The Wall Street Rebellion has begun

“We Like the Stock! We Like the Stock!”

To the boomers, and/or people close to that age, just now paying attention to these “millennial blog posts”: you realize that, even if you weren’t adversely effected by the ’08 crash, your children and perhaps grandchildren most likely were? We’re not enemies, we’re on the same side. [via Reddit]

It’s no secret that I read r/WallStreetBets and find it hilarious. These retail investors are crushing big hedge funds and I can’t help but smile about that.

Why do they do it? Some do it for the lulz, but some do it for payback. It’s Main Street fighting back against Wall Street. The People are rising up!

To Melvin Capital: you stand for everything that I hated during that time. You’re a firm who makes money off of exploiting a company and manipulating markets and media to your advantage. Your continued existence is a sharp reminder that the ones in charge of so much hardship during the ’08 crisis were not punished.

The excerpt above is from u/ssauronn is poignant. He was a teen during the 2008 crisis and saw what the carnage did to everyday hardworking people. Main Street got fucked, and not in a good way.

Do you know what tomato soup made out of school cafeteria ketchup packets taste like? My friends got to find out.

I remember the devastation afterward. People sleeping in cars, neighbors moving away to live with family. Everything about the American Dream shattered in front of my eyes and was the reason why I supported the Tea Party back then (I don’t support them now, they’re nuts!)

Wall Street got nothing by a slap on the wrist for this and only a handful of people went to jail. It still infuriates me to this day.

“I don’t know. I don’t know, Vinnie. They will be blaming immigrants and poor people.”

I remember this like yesterday. Wall Street executives paid themselves millions in bonuses with taxpayer money. Then they blamed greedy teachers for wanting an extra nickel to survive.

People have not forgotten this, it’s been imprinted on our children. I haven’t either, it was wrong.

I dumped my savings into GME, paid my rent for this month with my credit card, and dumped my rent money into more GME (which for the people here at WSB, I would not recommend). And I’m holding. This is personal for me, and millions of others. You can drop the price of GME after hours $120, I’m not going anywhere. You can pay for thousands of reddit bots, I’m holding. You can get every mainstream media outlet to demonize us, I don’t care. I’m making this as painful as I can for you.

Normally, emotions are the death of a retail trader/investor, but with a mob of like-minded people? It’s terrifying to be on the wrong side.

The Wall Street Rebellion has begun, this is the real Occupy Wall Street movement.

Lead the way u/ssauronn and r/WallStreetBets.
